Bugzilla – Bug 3554
Feature Request: Music IP library import with filter
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:24:34 UTC
Music IP Mixer supports user defined filters to select tracks within the Music IP library that meet the filter criteria. Slimserver currently supports Music IP filters for generating Music IP mixes from Slimserver. On Home / Server Settings / MusicMagic the user can select a Music IP filter and when a Music IP mix is generated from Slimserver, the filter along with other mix parameters is passed from Slimserver to Music IP using the Music IP API. This feature request is to extend the support of Music IP filters to importing tracks from the Music IP library into Slimserver. Currently all of the Music IP library is imported however the requested functionality is to provide an option to only import tracks meeting the filter criteria. A specific use case I have (although there may be others)... I currently manage 2 separate music libraries on my computer - one with lossless tracks that I play through slimserver and another with lossy tracks that I play on an iPod. This feature would allow a single Music IP library to manage both lossless and lossy tracks. I would define lossless and lossy filters on Music IP to select the relevant tracks. On Slimserver, I could select the lossless filter to import only lossless tracks into Slimserver. Slimserver functionality to select a filter for a Music IP mix already exists. I believe the Music IP API will support this functionality (see http://music.predixis.com/6_develop_http.html)
I've just upgraded from 6.3.1 to 6.5.1 - 10912 and this bug isn't doesn't appear to be completely fixed - under certain circumstances composer is still being included in artist counts when browsing and other counts are also wrong. e.g. if I browse by genre to "Home / Genres / Blues / Tom Waits" the browser says 13 albums with 197 songs by 7 artists The artist count is incorrect as it is counting the artist "Tom Waits" with 6 different composers included in the tags for these tracks. There appear to be other issues with album / artist / track counts. e.g. I only have 2 artists tagged under genre "Blues" "Home / Genres / Blues / Tom Waits" displays "13 albums with 197 songs by 7 artists" (number of artists incorrect as mentioned above) "Home / Genres / Blues / Nina Simone" displays "2 albums with 33 songs by 1 artist." (information correct) However: "Home / Genres / Blues" displays "17 albums with 233 songs by 2 artists." So an extra 2 albums and 3 tracks have appeared when browsing by genre compared to the sum of the individual counts when browsing by artist (although the artist count is correct) If I then list "All albums", "Home / Genres / Blues" displays "15 albums with 230 songs by 8 artists." so the album and track count is correct but the number of artists is wrong (composer is being included) In "Home / Server Settings / Behavior" none of the options in "COMPOSER, BAND AND ORCHESTRA IN ARTISTS" are selected.
I'm not ignoring this bug, but at the moment we have a fair number of more serious ones AND we're trying to hire some people now that we actually have some money to do it. I promise we will get back to it. In the mean time if you or any user is highly motivated, one thing that might be helpful is a sample set of very small mp3 files with the correct tags to easily demonstrate this problem!

comments 1 through 3 don't seem to match up with this original report (feature request). Were these for another bug? as for the original request, it would depend on being able to use extended and filter in the same songs request.
(In reply to comment #4) > comments 1 through 3 don't seem to match up with this original report (feature > request). Were these for another bug? yes... I think I was adding text for a previous bug and for some reason, bugzilla presented the next bug I had raised so I didn't realise I was entering text for the wrong one. > > as for the original request, it would depend on being able to use extended and > filter in the same songs request. > To be honest, I'm not that bothered about this one any more. I've been managing with separate lossless and lossy MusicIP library files for a couple of years and it works ok. If I want to create a mix for my iPod, I launch the lossy MusicIP library and if I want to import or create a mix on Slimserver, I launch the lossless one. It isn't that much hassle.
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
