Bugzilla – Bug 3549
Buffer drains empty near the track end
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:39:24 UTC
In last nightly trunk 14.6. (7963) buffer drains empty near the track end. As soon as SB stops, the buffer starts refilling again and rest of track is played. This happens with flac and mp3 files, but not everytime. When the track resumes there are about 5-10 seconds of track left. I'm almost sure this didn't happen with 12.6. nightly. I'm not sure about 13.6., I didn't have the music on very much yesterday.
13.6. 7936 has the same problem 12.6. 7905 works fine
Played with svn. This seems to be introduced by 7936. Version 7935 working ok. Looks like the buffer drains empty 10 second before the end of the track. And not everytime. Since 7936 seems to deal with playlists I added d_playlist. This gets displayed immediately as the music start again after hick-up: 2006-06-14 22:01:05.9681 Playlist: Jumping to song index: 2 2006-06-14 22:01:05.9692 modifyPlaylistCallback: savecurrsong is 1 2006-06-14 22:01:05.9695 modifyPlaylistCallback: resetting startupPlaylistLoading flag. 2006-06-14 22:01:15.8252 Playlist: Jumping to song index: 3 The last line is shown when new track starts. Same lines are also displayed when the tracks ends without hick-up...
I am having the same problem on Windows Server 2003 x64. Sounds correct that it appeared on the 13th. It seems to be very random; sometimes it works fine for many tracks, sometimes it happens several times in a row. Or perhaps it's just that I happen to be playing songs with lots of silence at the end...or that I'm not paying enough attention every time. When it happens, it sounds like it could be a glitch in the song I'm playing. Music stops for a very short moment, and almost immediately begins playing again, but the volume fades in (doesn't take more than a second in total, so we are talking about a short fade-in). I tried playing around a little with different crossfade settings, but couldn't notice any difference. I'm always playing without crossfade and with crossfade duration set to 0. Analog output Preamp Volume Control = 0 Audio Startup Time = 0 Volume Adjustment / Replay Gain = Disabled Playing MP3 and FLAC on wireless (802.11g) Squeezebox 2. Anything else that you would like to know, just ask!
I've used 18.6. (8041?) and 19.6. (8051) nightlies and haven't had the problem anymore.
Probably fixed by 8032...
righty-ho, I'll happily mark it closed (since Dan is away anyway ;) Please re-open if the drain comes back.
