Description evert 2006-06-10 11:35:50 UTC
Just upgraded to the latest build of 6.5 (Mac OS X version), and since then I can't see my iTunes playlists anymore. Not even after a complete rescan.
I mean the playlists I made inside iTunes. In 6.2.2 and 6.3 I could just access them, now there's... nothing there! All songs are available though. What's wrong?

Mac G4 400 AGP now @ 1 GHz (upgrade card), 1 GB RAM, OS X 10.4.6

I think I am seeing this on XP as well

That would mean it's a standard bug in 6.5b1! I have tried to find what it could be - really to no avail, complete reinstallation, iTunes new, altest version - no avail.

Comment 4 KDF 2006-06-13 13:43:44 UTC
try scanner.pl --itunes --d_itunes
Comment 5 Dan Sully 2006-06-13 17:07:57 UTC
iTunes playlists are showing up fine here on Tiger..
Comment 6 evert 2006-06-13 20:29:32 UTC
Dear KDF, you say "try scanner.pl --itunes --d_itunes", should I go to the commandline and type this? Sorry, I'm a novice....
Comment 7 KDF 2006-06-13 20:34:51 UTC
That's correct, use Terminal. You'll find scanner.pl in /Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server
Comment 8 James Craig 2006-06-14 00:13:12 UTC
I upgraded to Monday's (I think) 6.5 release for XP, cleared the library and did a scan followed by a rescan and the playlists persisted, so seems OK now.
Comment 9 Dan Sully 2006-06-14 08:59:36 UTC
Great - the fixes I made worked then.
Comment 10 evert 2006-06-14 20:28:09 UTC
Sorry, although some report it's working, in my case it isn't! The dbdeletion and rebuilding process seems to take place, and all tracks do get added, and it states (end of the list):
2006-06-14 23:22:04.7642 iTunes: starting playlist parsing, cleared old playlists
2006-06-14 23:22:10.2690 iTunes: got a playlist array of 3720 items
2006-06-14 23:22:10.2709 iTunes: got a playlist (itunesplaylist:90s Music) named 90s Music

2006-06-14 23:23:29.6255 iTunes: Finished scanning iTunes XML

2006-06-14 23:23:29.6278 iTunes: scan completed in 1632 seconds.

Still nothing shows up, also rebuilding using the command in the SlimServer webpage doesnt't change things. The PlayList items stays empty. Weird!

evert - is your iTunes collection on an external or network drive?

Hi Dan,

No it's on the same machine, even on the system HD...

Would you need machine details? Should I mail you the system profile?

Sorry for the big file, I have quite some MP3's...

Just installed the latest nightly, 8051, and did a full rescan. And lo-and-behold: there they are! My playlist have reappeared.
I can't tell what cahged, but it isn't broken anymore.

Thanks! (I think)
