Description Jan Coolen 2006-05-29 00:25:07 UTC
I'm running slimserver 6.2.2 on a Qnap TS-101 NAS. When "browsing music library", accented filenames are not correctly displayed: each accented letter shows up in the filename as two weird symbols, both on the slimserver web interface and on the squeezebox. The on-playing tag information is correct though, so the system is able to show the correct characters. Also, the Qnap NAS reports the filenames correctly to a Windows environment. When running 6.2.2 on an XP PC with the same Qnap NAS attached to it, filenames are reported correctly.

I'm not absolutely sure whether it is really a slimserver bug, but since the qnap reports the file names correctly, I suppose it could be in slimserver or in perl. Do they (always) take locale information into account correctly? (By the way: the same applies to the time information shown by the squeezebox: it's correct for the NAS, but on the squeezebox it is always shown as UTC).

Jan: is this QNAP from ProgressiveAV? If so, they'll need to fix this particular issue.

Jan did you hear from ProgressiveAV?

In the most recent firmware and software of ProgressiveAV this problem was solved.
