Bugzilla – Bug 3459
Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:38:25 UTC
Slimserver 6.2.2 +MusicIP Mixer 1.6b2 +MoodLogic 2.7.1.18 +AlienBBC 1.02a +Slimscrobbler 0.34 Windows 2000 Professional sp4 Intel Celeron 1.4GHz 512MB RAM Squeezebox 1 wireless Library of approx 6300 MP3s Workflow: 1. Using set-up above, and with both ML and MIP plugins active, press and hold play button on remote to generate instant mix. 2. Squeezebox responds with choice of either MusicIP or MoodLogic instant mix. 3. Select MoodLogic instant mix and press play again. 4. Squeezebox 'hangs' for a short while - this is because Slimserver loads ENTIRE library into a playlist. 5. During the short pause for SS to load entire library, Squeezebox displays message "unable to retrieve resource" 6. Squeezebox then begins to play entire library, as per Slimserver-generated playlist. 7. Meantime, Slimserver now no longer recognises MoodLogic plugin - need to restart both Slim and MoodLogic before can use MoodLogic again. Generating instant mixes from the web interface seems to work fine.
Have you tried the 6.3 nightly? would you be able to provide any d_moodlogic log output? thanks
Subject: RE: Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work Hi, I've not yet tried the 6.3 nightlies, but will attempt to do so. This may take a while though - I'm only here (at home) at weekends and the next few weekends are sadly booked up. I can certainly get some d_moodlogic traces to you though - tell me exactly what you need, and how I may activate the traces, and I can do that this evening. I'll be in the office from tomorrow morning though, and not back again until the weekend - if you're not able to get info on tracing to me this evening, I won't be able to get the info to you for a few days. Please accept my apologies if you don't hear back from me in the next few days. try the 6.3.0 nightly builds first, as this does seem to work for me. If you still have problems then you can look at the debug: server settings->debugging check d_moodlogic click change click the link at the end of the description text at the top to open a new browser window for log.txt try the mix, and the info should appear in the log.txt window after 30 seconds, or you can manually refresh. please copy the log to a text file and add as an attachment to this report.
Subject: RE: Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work Thanks KDF. I went for the 6.3.0 nighty (2006-06-05). I still get the same problem. The message I receive is: "SlimServer failed to retrive the resource" (note that I think it should say "retrieve", but if so then there appears to be a spelling mistake in the message). Same behaviour as before - slim now loads the entire library as a playlist, and begins playing from track one; looks like this is in alphabetical order of album name. Also tried enabling debug for MoodLogic module. Followed instructions provided, but no logging appears in the log.txt (it remains empty - I waited a couple of mins). I tried my original workflow again to generate a new instant mix, and still the logging is empty. I've confirmed that d_moodlogic is still enabled. Also - I confirm that I've tried generating an instant mix on a track that actually *has* been activated by ML ;) I'm using Fishbone skin, it that makes any difference to the debug? I'm also trying debug using 6.3.0 most recent nightly. >From: Slim Devices Bugzilla <bugs@bugs.slimdevices.com> >To: dan_goodinson@hotmail.com >Subject: [Bug 3459] Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not >work >Date: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 11:06:50 -0700 (PDT) > >https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3459 > > > > > >------- Comment #2 from dan_goodinson@hotmail.com 2006-06-05 09:58 ------- >Subject: RE: Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work > >Hi, > >I've not yet tried the 6.3 nightlies, but will attempt to do so. KDF: is this not reproducible?
I haven't been able to reproduce it myself, no. I'm not sure where the "SlimServer failed to retrive(sic) the resource" message comes from either. Best I can figure, there must be something wrong in communicating with the COM object, but only moodlogic knows how that end of it works. c:\program files\slimserver\server\slim.exe --d_moodlogic enter that from a command prompt session, and I expect there should be some sort of error messages in the startup
any progress here? any debug output from d_moodlogic might help. any idea where that "retrive" message is coming from? logs/dialog box? otherwise, I'm tempted to close off if as it does appear to work. at least, it would probably get pushed off post 6.3 (so likely 6.5, where it also seems to work)
Subject: RE: Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work KDF, Apologies that I've not been in touch. Sadly I've not been at home that much over the past weeks. Last thing I did with my SB1 was install 6.3 and re-test. As per earlier notes, it still doesn't work on my side (perhaps my config is different to yours?) Next couple of weekends are busy, too, though I'm back at home (briefly) for a couple of nights as of tonight. I'll sort out the ML degug tracing and send it through to you either this evening or tomorrow evening. Subject: RE: Generating MoodLogic instant mix from remote does not work As an aside, and should it mean anything to you, the "retrive" message is display on the SB itself. As far as SS interface is concerned, I see no errors at all (no dialogue boxes or anything like that). The only sign of trouble (aside from loading the entire playlist rather than generating an ML instant mix) is on the SB display. Dan. >> KDF, Apologies that I've not been in touch. If you run c:\program files\slimserver\server\slim.exe --d_moodlogic --logfile c:\ml.log then you should be guaranteed to see some messages when you generate a mix. they may or may not give us a hint as to what might be going wrong. Feel free to attach the entire log from server start, as there may be some errors reported in the init that give us a hint. I'm not sure, for example, what happens if the db doesn't respond to a mix request. You might get all songs then.
OH! NOW I get it. Press right when selecting the mix, not PLAY. PLAY should probably be made to move right as well. I'll see if I can fix this by changing the play function or I'll swtich to INPUT.Choice and handled the functions from that.
Fixed for 6.3 at change 8089 and in trunk at change 8092. Please update and reopen if issues remain.
This bug fix is now part of a released version, and so has been marked closed. If you are still experiencing this problem, please reopen the bug.
