With Firmware 36 and 37 you can't toggled the auto-upgrade state.  My SB2 has it on, but if I change it to off by pressing right, I see it briefly change to off but then immediately go back to on.  The same is true in reverse for my SB3.

Hm, this may be an IR sensitivity issue.  Try hitting the button very  
briefly as a workaround.

You're right, it is due to IR sensitivity.  A really quick push fixes it, but I wasn't exactly holding down the button before.

This is fixed in firmware 50. It is now in test and will be released soon.
