Bugzilla – Bug 3225
3-29 daily build partially breaks Web UI
Last modified: 2006-03-30 13:29:00 UTC
I installed the 3-29 daily of 6.5b1 yesterday, trying to eliminate the "freezeup" problem I've been having (bug 1869), and got this browser behavior (browser client is running on a vanilla Windows XP laptop): 1) Using the standard Web UI 2) FireFox (latest version) no longer renders the shaded areas and normal layout appearance. So the functional elements of the UI are there, but the appearance is radically altered. 3) Internet Explorer (latest v6) renders the appearance correctly, but has the same functional issue as in #4 (see below). 4) With both FireFox and IE, when I go to Server Settings then change the combo box at the top of the pane to select a different option (like Interface), nothing happens. The combo box displays the correct text, but does not trigger the action to display Interface server options. Other functions work OK, like selecting and playing a playlist (in the left pane) and starting and stopping playback (in the right pane). I have not done an extensive exploration to see what else may be broken. The player UI seems OK. So far so good on the freezeup front ... keep your fingers crossed.
what did you upgrade from? if not a previous 6.5 build, then you should stop the server erase the contents of the Cache/templates directory and restart the server. similar issues discussed here, cleared up by uninstalling and re-installing completely. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22427
Subject: RE: 3-29 daily build partially breaks Web UI I upgraded from one of the 6.2.x builds, so I need to do this. Where is that directory on a Mac? I poked around a bit and couldn't find it. I was looking under my userID area, Library, Preferences. Also found a Slimserver directory under Library, but the directories under it seemed to be empty. I still think that the layout should come back in time. The html has gone through a lot of changes for 6.5, and browser caching can be a problem. Give it a number of quick refreshes and see what happens, or clear the firefox browser cache (preferences -> privacy). That should help. The Default skin does appear fine on my OSX setup, firefox safari and even opera are ok. Just to keep the rest with the bug report (sorry, I hit reply before): ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thanks, that eliminated the functional issues. The default interface still looks weird on Firefox, but I was able to get to the Interface settings and found another one I like OK (light). So I guess the remaining FireFox strangeness is more a cosmetic annoyance than anything else. -------------------------------------------------------------- /Library/Caches/SlimServer or ~/Library/Caches/SlimServer If that fails, then you should then try the uninstall (delete from system prefs) and re-install. -kdf
user reported via email that refreshes cleared up the problem. we'll need to think of a way to forced a cache fush for 6.5 release. template clearing should be ok, by then there will likely be a db wipe anyway and that takes care of the templates.
