Description Daniel Barrett 2006-03-19 19:28:07 UTC
My Squeezebox2 (firmware version 35), when in the powered off state, turns its display ON when a scheduled "Rescan Music Library" operation runs. It shouldn't.

To reproduce:

1. Set the Squeezebox2's screensaver to "None" for the powered-off state.
2. Notice what screen is currently showing. Suppose it's "Browse Music". (But it doesn't matter which screen it is.)
3. Power off the Squeezebox2. The display goes blank as it should.
4. Let a scheduled "Rescan Music Library" operation run. (Mine is set for 4:00 am.)
5. Sometime during or after the rescan, the Squeezebox2's display turns on, dimmed. THIS IS THE BUG. It shows the current screen (in this case, "Browse Music").
6. For fun, press the power button. The Squeezebox2 turns ON (you see the introductory screen "Free Your Music"). This verifies the box really was powered off.
7. Press the power button again, Squeezebox turns off; display is blank as it should be.

The problem goes away if the "Rescan Music Library" plugin is not set to run.

I've confirmed that this occurs not only for a SCHEDULED rescan, but also for ANY rescan you initiate. So I have removed the word "scheduled" from the Summary in this bug report.

It happens for both "Look for new and changed music" and "Clear library and rescan everything."

dan is working on rescan issues

This sounds like another bug that max reported in here, where the device mysteriously turns on over night when a rescan is run. see bug 2688

Yes, the two bugs sound identical. I have two SB3's that do not exhibit the
problem while my SB2 does... but that might be due to different powered-down
screensavers. My SB2 is blank when powered down, while my SB3's display
the date and time.
