Description Jon Heal 2006-03-15 04:49:51 UTC
The SqueezeBox entered a state in which, when browsing by Artist, and then selecting an album to play, only the first song plays. The menus continue to respond to the remote, but no more songs from any album play. Additionally, the Now Playing Screensaver (set to the analog VU meters), appears on the display SUPERIMPOSED with the menus. When the unit is powered off, the analog VU meters are SUPERIMPOSED with the Date and Time (the Off screensaver).

The following DID NOT resolve the problem:

1. unplug and plug player back in
2. recreate preferences
3. "forget player" in SlimServer
4. "factory" reset of firmware
5. installing older version of SlimServer over newer version.

What finally worked was to uninstall the current version, install an older version and then reinstall the current version.

Jon: Do you know how it got that way? Any idea how to reproduce this? This is something we haven't heard of before.

Jon: what versions where you using? We'd like to reproduce this, but don't know where to start...

I'll keep an eye out for this as we go, but for now I'll just mark it 'worksforme'. At least there's a relatively painless workaround: installing an older firmware, and reinstalling the new firmware.

Thanks for the info, Jon.
