Description Chris Owens 2006-03-14 11:20:53 UTC
It was strangely difficult for me to figure out how to listen to an arbitrary web radio station using Slimserver.

Dean noted it was under 'Radio Tune In' which to me seemed probably an Internet radio network name at first glimpse.

Perhaps the name of that link should be changed to 'Add my own Internet Radio station' or something less impenetrable.

Also, while we're at it, I typoed the URL (left off the leading 'h' in 'http' and I got no error message either from the web ui or from the player.

ALSO what if I want to listen to that radio station every week? Can't I add that somewhere I can click on it easily? I guess I can save it as a playlist. Is that good enough?

ALSO while we're at it, when I try to save that playlist in Firefox, I have to click 'download' which may make sense for something on a remote server, but I'm not sure that it makes sense for an application on my local machine. THEN after I click 'download' I don't get any opportunity to save it with a name of my choice or in a directory of my choice.

For comparison, look at the squeeze network 'favorites' page at http://sntest.slimdevices.com:3000/settings/favorites?action=delete&streamid=561

If you have a playlist folder chosen in server settings, the current playlist should also have a "save" option at the top along with the "download" and "clear". I've never really understood the point of the "download" button, since slimserver playlists arent so easily portable to a remote site.

For 6.5, I'd like the tune in field to be on the home page, along with the basic search field
Comment 5 Dan Sully 2006-06-15 17:47:05 UTC
Dean - do you still want these for 6.5?

What's the priority here?
Comment 6 Blackketter Dean 2006-06-15 17:59:22 UTC
Yes please. let's keep this for 6.5 and do triage once 6.3 is out the door.
Comment 7 Dan Sully 2006-06-15 18:00:50 UTC
Ok.. what should the wording be? I don't want to just stick a text entry field in two places on the home page.

I assume the behavior should be for both to take the input, and then redirect to the page you normally see for both of them?

New Tune In UI should address this in 7.0. Also, Favorites is the place to save radio stations for future use.
