Additional information:
A colleague has the SB3 working fine, using WPA-PSK, and a NETGEAR WGT634U.

The NETGEAR description for the 108 Mbps RangeMax ADSL Modem Wireless Router Model DG834PN has "Note: This product is not available in North America"!

I wonder if this has anything to do with the WPA connection problems. I talked to our Network Guru and AFA he knows, the only difference is channel usage.

I have one of these routers now, and can confirm that it does not work with WPA. I have the latest firmware and WPA2 does not appear to be an option?

Hi Richard,

The bug was incorrectly filed with WPA2 on the headline.

The Wireless Security Options are:

Disable - This will disable the security function. Data will not be encrypted before transmission.
WEP - WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), if used, encrypts data before transmission. This provides greater security and privacy. All Wireless Stations need to use the same settings (WEP Key size and WEP key).
WPA-PSK - This version of WPA uses a PSK (Pre-shared Key) for authentication, so you don't need a Radius Server. All Wireless stations need to use the same PSK (Pre-shared Key). Data transmissions are encrypted using a 256 Bit key derived from the PSK. This key changes regularly, providing greater protection. WPA is more secure than WEP, and should be used if possible.
WPA-802.1x - This version of WPA requires the use of a Radius server for authentication. Each user (Wireless Client) must have a "user" login on the Radius Server, and this device must have a "client" login on the Radius server. Data transmissions are encrypted using a key which is automatically generated.

Regards,
Pete

Can you please try firmware 41 available in the nightly releases. All encryption modes now work with this router. If you still are having problems please reopen this bug. Thanks.

Hi, could you tell me where to get firmware 41 from please, i am currently experiencing this problem with the DG834PN and have firmware 1 on my SB3, thanks

Firmware 41 was current in April 2006 when that comment was written. The current firmware today is 81 (10/10/07) which you can get by downloading the latest SlimServer version at http://www.slimdevices.com/download and connecting your Squeezebox. It will detect the new firmware and do a firmware update.

Give that a try and let us know if you continue to have trouble.
