Description steliosb 2006-02-16 04:49:43 UTC
For my surprise reading the contents of the database I realized that in sqlite database Unicode characters are not displayed correct (only latin characters are displayed correct)

So I changed to Mysql but with the same results (even if using utf8 character set and collation).

Slimservers UI seems to can handle this correct except when you try to rename a playlist written in Unicode characters ( the strange characters appear then in the UI ).

Can someone explain to me why this happens technically in order to overpass it?

Or to mimic the behavior of slimservers UI ?

How slimeserver writes bad the Unicode characters in database but read and displays them correct on the UI?

Have you tried the latest nightly? I'm assuming, since you set the target to 6.2.1, that you really meant that you are working with 6.2.1.

Before reporting bugs, you really should try either the latest stabel nightly, 6.2.2 at http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest

or the experimental 6.5

I tried the latest build 6.5b and the problem is still there

slimserver writes strange characters to the database in place of unicode characters.
(tested with mysql query browser , or mysql odbc connector , sqlite odbc connector)

how can i serach the database with an external tool then?

what is the server version string at the bottom of server settings?
have you setup windows to handle international characters in your regional settings?

This should be fixed in change 6892.

You'll need to drop and recreate the DB - use the 2006-04-11 6.5 nightly to create the DB.
