Bugzilla – Bug 2931
Recan new & changed does not pickup new artwork
Last modified: 2006-12-04 19:07:31 UTC
After placing a whole load of 'cover.jpg' files in my music folder (for albums Slimserver already knows about), Slimserver does not pick them up for display in the 'Browse Artwork' view when told to recan for new & changed. The files are there and readable. When placeholders are shown on the browse artwork view and it's clicked, the artwork is shown with the track listing that comes out. Returning to the browse artwork still shows placeholder, even after refresh. Am using MySQL DB if this is relevant.
this is by design. to avoid heavy loads involved with processing so many images when using browse_artwork, the thumbnails are cached as part of the scanning process. They will only be picked up as part of the 'new and changed' scan if the album is new. A wipe library and rescan should be used. Sorry, there isn't really any good way to get around that right now. This is the same reason the enhancement request at bug 2116 exists. Now playing, and browsing to the album level should still show updated artwork where applicable to the skins.

With the split scanner of SlimServer 6.5, this should be reopened as an enhancement request. This is a different situation from the Browse Music Folder cataloging. You're running a library scan, not browsing. So run a pass through the library that also looks for new or changed artwork. This has brought been up time and again in the forums - not doing so causes a lot of confusion for a lot of people.
