Description Mark Lanctot 2006-01-30 07:15:33 UTC
For use as an alarm clock in a darkened bedroom, the SB2's minimum brightness is far, far too bright.

I suggest either lowering the brightness of brightness setting "1" or adding a 5th brightness that would correspond with an average clock radio display.

Perhaps the SB3 might be better as its display is dimmer at its lowest setting, but try it out in a darkened room particularly after letting your eyes acclimatize. The SB2 at its minimum brightness is bright enough to cast shadows and bright enough to read the remote...

"Advanced networked alarm clock" seems to be one of the SB's target markets, so this would better position it in this niche market.

The brightness is as low as the hardware will allow. Consider using
a smaller font or putting some colored film on the display.

Thanks Dean, you can close the enhancement request.

how about an enhancement to turn off the display a minute after you've set the sleep function? from that state, hitting any key should reactivate the display

That is probably best as a plugin. I sense far too many config options that users will want applied to that. It is such a personal thing

i wd agree there are too many config options in general...

on this, i'd take the apple approach and offer this in a single config, with a one minute timeout. that should serve most needs.
