Description Jim McAtee 2006-01-18 23:20:01 UTC
For the web interface, the ability to display a different title format than the one displayed on the Squeezebox. This would require a seperate pref, but simpler than the current title format, since there's no need to have a selectable list. Just enter a format using the available data element tokens.

how is this different from the EXISTING pref for web title format?
yes, it's big list, which provides the choices for the player, but also selects the current one to use in the web interface.

Perhaps I've misunderstood how the existing pref works (not a very unusual situation). I thought that from the web interface I could choose the format to be used on the player.

Are you saying "Current" is the only the web interface format? That would suggest that the remote interface format is then only selectable from the remote ui. It's still not clear to me.

server settings->formatting->titleFormat is the web format. Here you can add or remove formats, plus there is a radio button for choosing the current one to use in the web pages.

player setting->titleFormat is the settings for the players. Each pulldown consists of the server setting list, and you can add or delete options (I think there was a button on the older sony remote that toggled through titleformats liek we do for now playing formats). the radio button selects/shows the current titleformat in use for the player.

oh, and another detail: when using the web format, the entire "titleformat" becomes a link, whether to the songinfo, or to jump to that as the current song.

If the titleformat does not include ARTIST or ALBUM then several skins will add a second or third link for album and artist appropriately. This is why, with the default "title" that you still see TITLE from ALBUM by ARTIST in the web. Parsing the components from the format to make multiple links has not been seen as feasible at any point thus far.

Ahhhhh.... Ok, I see how it works now. The formats for players are individually selectable. This is what I hadn't realized. And this is the configuration area only of the formats made available for the players, both via the web interface and the remote interface.

Something needs to be changed in the description. What does "above" means in the following?

"These are the formats available for selection both above and in the player setup."

Marked invalid. My bad.
