Description Pat Farrell 2006-01-08 18:42:42 UTC
I've been running SlimServer Version: 6.5b1 - 5479 - Linux -
for a while, and I've noticed some audio dropouts. They
are much more frequent when an album first starts. After
the second or third song they are much less frequent,
maybe only one per song or few minutes. At startup,
they are very frequent and aggrivating.

I believe I might have noticed this running the
production 6.2 server in earlier December.
I was very late to the 6.* party, stayed
with 5.4 for ages. It worked perfectly
for at least a year, probably more. Ever
since I ran some CAT5, I was dropout free.

The server is a decent box, AMD 3000+ or so.
It ran happily for ages.

System details. Mandriva 10.1
Linux beatles.pfarrell.com 2.6.8.1-12mdk #1 Fri Oct 1 12:53:41 CEST 2004 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 3000+ unknown GNU/Linux

The processor is a 32 bit AMD ‎ Athlon(tm) 3000+
which is really (MHz): ‎2166.556

The SB1/g is wired over a 100baseT ethernet
There is one switch between the SlimServer PC and the SB1/g
There is very little other traffic on the network, but
I haven't run etherreal or other tools on it.
