Description Julius Friede 2004-04-27 13:37:15 UTC
Since v5.1.5 and various nightly builds (I have not used all of them), the SlimServer has not been
scanning my iTunes library on either startup of the cpu or when going to a newer version. I am
currently using v5.1.6 with the 4/26 build. I have to go to server settings, change to using a specified
volume and back to using iTunes, then click Rescan. My setup is:
Squeezebox
G4 AGP / Powerlogix 1GHz CPU
512 MB RAM
OS X 10.3.3

P.S. can the rescan button be brought right out front instead of only appearing after a change from a
specified volume and back to iTunes before it is visible?

how is it with the May 13 build?

I like what you've done with the interface. Much better. It would be great if you added a "reset to
defaults" option on the iTunes page, especially as regards to xml file location and playlist location, as
well as a "browse" feature to select a path via the open/save dialog boxes.

As to the problem at hand: i get different results between iTunes and the SlimServer. ITunes tells me I
have 19947 songsm 1500 albums, and 1247 artists. When the SS first starts up (5/14/04 build), it says
I have 20047 songs, 1751 albums, 1249 artists. I rescan my library from the web interface and I get
20052 songs, 1751 albums, and 1249 artists.

I then rebuild the XML file from iTunes and the iTunes results are the same. I had also wiped the cache
from the SS interface and stopped the server before rebuilding the XML file. After restarting the SS, it
says I have 20079 songs, 1751 albums, and 1249 artists. I then rescaned my music folder from the web
interface. This time I get 20052 songs. The album and artist count remain consistent, but different
from iTunes.

I'm not sure what to make of this, but my collection is too large to find the specific differences. I just
know that sometimes I want to listen to an album and it is not there, but is after a rescan. If there is
anything I can send along, just let me know.

performance of the scanner/importer should mostly remove these types of problems.

marking as fixed. new issues regarding scanning or the itunes importer plugin
should be filed as a new bug.

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
