Description Max Spicer 2006-01-01 06:31:47 UTC
I've just started using the band, conductor, disc and discc tags to shorten the names of my albums. Previously, I had two albums, called "Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 - Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin - Ren Jacobs [1/2]" and "Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 - Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin - Ren Jacobs [2/2]". I've now retagged the album title for these to "Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248" and stored the rest of the information in the other tags. Slimserver is set to "Group compilation albums together". After a detect new and changed music rescan, I get a new, single entry for "Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248" that includes disc 1 and 2 (as expected). However, the original entries for disc 1 and 2, with the extended information in the album title still exist as well - these should have been removed from the db. I didn't rename the actual files, so slimserver is obviously getting confused by the fact that the files still exist for these old entries.

Max - is this still an issue with the latest svn?

Not really - the outcome has now changed, but it's still not right. I've just done a similar retagging to another album, and done a new and changed music rescan. This time it has picked up the changes to artist and composer, but hasn't acted on the disc and discc tags. My album listing now includes two identical entries for "24 Preludes & Fugues, op.87" by Shostakovich, Vladimir Ashkenazy". The album was originally "24 Preludes & Fugues, op.87 - Vladimir Ashkenazy" by Shostakovich. I'll do a full rescan and report back on the outcome. This is with R7144.

After a clear db rescan, I get a single listing for "24 Preludes & Fugues, op.87" by "Vladimir Ashkenazy". This contains the tracks from disc 1 and 2. Bizarrely, this is not listed as being by "Shostakovich, Vladimir Ashkenazy" as it was when I did a new and changed music rescan. It also does not appear under Shostakvich in Browse Artists. I have COMPOSER, BAND AND ORCHESTRA IN ARTISTS set to Composer & Band/Orchestra and have not changed this setting in between the rescans. Is this another bug?

This appears to be working properly as of 28-06-2006 for 6.5
