Bugzilla – Bug 276
Squeezebox (v21) continues playing after switched off (5.1.5 server) if used while another Squeezebox waits for firmware upgrade
Last modified: 2004-09-08 22:24:21 UTC
After switching off my v21 squeezebox in the midst of playing, it just goes on and on playing. The time display is only updated every two or three seconds in this mode. 5.1.5 server running on Linux with rsync copy of iTunes databse. The server is a 99,7 % CPU after some database updates. However, this has been running on a bit long... I also noticed that the scrolling is now only done once a second (both SLIMP3 and Squeezebox), so maybe that's a related symptom. Oh, there needs to be a better way to search the bugs.
I can't reproduce the problem described in the Summary. Can you post some details? (Are you powering off from the web interface or the remote? Does the volume change? Does it happen all the time?) Also, there are few other bugs listed in your description. Can you file them separately? Thanks. (p.s. As far as bug searching, there's this form: https://bugs-archive.lyrion.org/query.cgi could you file a bug against the bug database with suggestions for improvements?) Thanks!
I described the three symptoms together because they occurred together after I put new music on the server. I switched off via the remote; there was no volume change at all. I could reproduce the "run on" repeatedly this afternoon; a few hours later, I can't now. (A fun effect now is that after switching on again, I hear a short snippet of what would have been next after switching off.) I still have the two-second clock update and the high CPU (which I suspect is the original problem). (I'll file a bug on the bug database once I've made up my mind on how to facilitate search.) Gruesse, Carsten
Uuh. All the symptoms went away once I updated the firmware on the second squeezebox (I have two SLIMP3s and two Squeezeboxen, I used the first Squeezebox with v21 for a day without remembering I would also have to update the other Squeezebox in my wife's office at some point). I conclude the bug description should have been: If one Squeezebox with pre-v10 firmware (was 8, I think) is showing the screen waiting for an update, another Squeezebox on the same server will act strangely (music sometimes runs on after switching off from the remote, clock display does not get updated, scrolling happens only once per second) and the server will be pegged at 99,7 % CPU. Sorry for the confusion.
so...technically, this bug would be fixed, since upgrading to the current firmware does remove the problem. yes?
