Description Philip Meyer 2005-11-28 02:13:53 UTC
I noticed that my Browse Artist list has "Alison Moyet" listed under "A", even though I have tagged the track with an ARTISTSORT="Moyet, Alison".

Then I realised that I only have one track by this artist, which appears on a various artist album. The album "Love Legends" is not being detected as a various artist album for some reason.

I wonder if it is because I haven't ripped all tracks on the album - I only have tracks 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14. All of these are performed by different artists.

The artists on this album that also exist elsewhere in my music collection are correctly listed using the ARTISTSORT, but it appears that where there are no other occurances of the artist, they are being listed using their ARTIST tag, not ARTISTSORT.

The tracks are in WMA format.

Sorry, just realised that I had actually logged this problem a while back as bug 2549 - I had a feeling that I had, but couldn't find it, and then after I submitted the new bug report, I stumbled across the original by accident. Doh!

Anyway, this bug has a bit more info on it, so it's probably best to mark the other one as a duplicate of this one.

Sorry about that.

as requested by Dan, in the now duped bug 2549:
"Can you attach your slimserversql.db and one or two of the wma files in
question?"

I believe I emailed my DB directly to Dan previously. I'll email a new one if he requires it.

Is there still an issue here, and if so, what is it at this point?

I have just completed a complete rescan under release 6.5. The album is now automatically detected as a compilation album.

As a result, I can't tell if ARTISTSORT is being picked up correctly by the scanning process - it used to be listed under "A" instead of "M", but now the artist doesn't appear in Browse Artists as this is the only song I have by this artist (compilation artists are not expanded). I wonder if ARTISTSORT didn't work for WMA files before?
