Bugzilla – Bug 2612
Hierarchical Playlists - Add support for playlist folders from iTunes
Last modified: 2012-03-19 10:12:30 UTC
you can now create folders in itunes, and drag various playlists in to them to make it a little more collapsable... the way slimserver reads those currently is by just putting every track in every playlist inside that folder as part of one huge playlist named after the folder.
I just started using a Duet and noticed this issue immediately. Support for iTunes playlist folders would be a *huge* improvement. The playlist folders in iTunes are a godsend for classical music fans like me -- I have each major work its own playlist (to keep the movements together), and that generates a LOT of playlists. Then I have (e.g.) a folder labeled "Beethoven", which contains folders "Chamber", "Piano", "Symphonies" and so on, and each subfolder has the actual playlists. It's not just Classical music fans, though -- this would help *anyone* who has a lot of music and wants to keep it organized. Please add another vote for getting this done soon. Mike
another vote for this feature from a customer: Can you in the future provide a hierarchical system so that I can place a folder inside of "Playlists" into which I can place separate playlists? In other words I would like the organizational structure of Itunes. Squeezecenter needs folders under "Playlists" in which separate playlists may be specified. (081217-002776)
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
I guess this one won't be addressed after all this time but I would really like a playlist hierarchy to be supported as well.
