Description Chris Masterton 2005-11-14 22:34:56 UTC
Hello,

This is my first bug report so I hope I have all the information you need.

First, I'm running Debian Sarge and two SB2s both connected over 802.11g with WPA encryption enabled.

I had been running 6.2.0 for the past few weeks with no problems (at least in terms of connection, I've had a couple of strange crashes). Today I downloaded 6.2.1 (Nov 14 build) and installed normally.

The problem: Both units continuously loose connection and gain connection. When the unit is off, for about 10 seconds I see "Can't connect to Slimserver" then back to the clock (my default off screensaver) for a few minutes... then back to "Can't connect to Slimserver". Menus sometimes pause while connection is lost. Music stops playing and the device goes completely blank... then eventually connection is gained and the now playing screen is shown again.

This is not a wireless issue on my end because my laptop can connect and transfer information normally. SB says Wireless Signal Strength is 100% (its right beside my router).

The log shows nothing strange.

Let me know if there is any further information I can provide.

Chris.

p.s. reinstalling 6.2.0 fixes the problem completely.

Dean - could this have something to do with the new firmware?
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2005-11-15 07:55:01 UTC
It's unlikely that it's the firmware. pLease let us know if this reoccurs and reopen this bug with details.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you went from 6.2.0 to 6.2.1 and saw the problem, then went back to 6.2.0 and it went away.

Can you reinstall 6.2.1 and see if the problem comes back? Does the problem exist if you only have one player plugged in? Also, add details about your wireless access point model and version numbers.

Thanks for the quick response!

I have a Linksys WRT54G model 1 with Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv firmware (which I've never had a problem with in over 6 months of heavy use).

Re-installing 6.2.1 Nightly 15 fixed the problem! Strange.

Thanks for the help.

ss.

p.s. the link to 6.2.2 here (http://www.slimdevices.com/dev_nightly.html) doesn't work.

Chris, is this resolved? Have you tried with firmware 33 in the latest nightly?
Comment 7 Richard Titmuss 2006-04-18 11:55:33 UTC
Chris, if you are still having problems can you please try firmware 41 available in the nightly releases. In this version most of the wireless connectivity problems have been fixed. If this does not help please reopen this bug. Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry somehow I missed the second to last email about this bug.

I finally had a chance to download the newest nightly and listen for a couple of hours tonight and...

No problems whatsoever!

You guys kick ass!

Chris.
