Bugzilla – Bug 2533
Now Playing doesn't match the actual track if the first is skipped through
Last modified: 2008-12-18 11:38:31 UTC
If I'm playing the first track of an album, displaying the track name, but then skip to the next track before the first has finished playing, the skipped-to track name is displayed only briefly before returning to displaying the name of the first track. This behaviour continues as further tracks are played. The only ways round this seem to be to either let track 1 play to its end, or to go back to the Squeezebox's main menu and choose "Now Playing" from there.
SlimServer Version: 6.2.0 - 4753 - Mac OS X 10.4.3 (8F46) - EN - utf8
please try 6.2.1 and confirm the behaviour there. could be the same thing reported in 2510.
Derryck: can you test with the tonight's nightly build for 6.2.1?
(In reply to comment #3) Same problem seen, but the first album I tried it on worked as expected. Back to its old tricks when I stopped that and played another. 2510 doesn't seem to apply 100% because the "Now Playing" menu item does indeed show the right details as tracks are skipped.
Derryck: I need some detailed instructions to reproduce this. Can you explain exactly what you are doing and what you see?
I didn't think I was doing anything out of the ordinary :-) OK, all music is contained within my iTune library and is in Apple Lossless format. All from the player's UI and based on the notes I took this afternoon. Browse Music, Browse Albums, start playing. Use right arrow on remote to display current track title and progress bar. So far OK. Now use FFWD button on remote to skip to next track - next track displays correct track name and progress bar. So far so good. Now use Pause to stop, and return to Browse Music/Album to choose another; start playing and whilst the first track is playing use the right arrow on the remote to display the track title. Track title is correct BUT there is no progress bar. Now skip to track 2. Track 2's title and progress bar shows briefly before it flips back to track 1's title and no progress bar. If the mis-named track is left to play for some seconds then its title and progress bar do eventually appear, and subsequent skipped-to tracks are displayed entirely correctly with name and progress bar. If I then stop that album and start another then the whole sequence repeats. The correct title and progress bar always seems to be available from the player's Now Playing menu.
Ok, I think that this might be a misunderstanding on your part Derryck, if you are looking at the the track title on the "song info" screens (i.e. you can scroll through the Title, Artist, Album, etc...) that screen shouldn't change if a new song is playing (i.e. you are looking at info about a specific song, not about the currently playing song.) If you press Now Playing, then RIGHT then you should see the details about the song. If I've got this wrong, please reopen the bug with details. Thanks.
Thanks for your help Dean - you're absolutely right and it was my expectation that was wrong. I'd also become confused because of the screensaver kicking in with the "Now Playing" display which led me to take the wrong conclusion. Doh! "Bug" closed.
