Description Hans Palm 2005-11-09 07:13:44 UTC
Rescan is slow, even if only a single album is added and "Look for new and changed music" is used. Not that I now exactly how the scanning works, if it's the checking of files and timestamps, the scanning of id3 tags or the database handling that takes all that time.

Anyway, at least using the web interface, addition of a path to start "Look for new and changed music" from would be useful.

Browse music folder already does this by comparing timestamps. New files are then scanned on entering a folder that is detected as having new music.

Is this an undocumented feature?

Does it work both on the player and when using the web interface?
If it does detect something new or changed, does it also scan
the complete directory path in a new directory?
Is this really wanted?

If it works like this, "Look for new and changed music" seems to be superfluous.
