Bugzilla – Bug 2521
Squeezenetwork glitches.
Last modified: 2008-12-15 12:14:44 UTC
This morning, I was woken up by my squeezenetwork alarm clock, listening to a WMA radio stream. Everything was fine until I pressed the power button on the remote to turn it off. The display went brighter but said 'welcome to squeezenetwork' (or something along those lines). It then went back to the screen I was on (now playing) and the display went dim. Pressing the brightness button has no effect. I signed off and then connected again and everything was rectified. Another thing to note- the scrolling also went very ugly when the screen went dim. Dean (at slimdevices) has noticed this problem before when the squeezenetwork was being updated to support WMA. He said it should be sorted- this appears to be a very similar bug. Thanks Jono
Dan: do you know what this could be?
(In reply to comment #1) > Dan: do you know what this could be? I'm not really sure. It has to be something to do with the squeezenetwork. I have a suspicion that it may be related to WMA streaming only- I will try and recreate the problem using a normal MP3 stream. It happened again this morning but was different this time. It had the date on the screen with the spectrum pattern playing behind as I was listening to the WMA stream- shouldn't it normally display the "alarm clock" text on screen?. None of the buttons on the remote (volume, now playing etc)had any effect whatsoever when pressed. I pressed the power button on the remote and the display told me "welcome to squeezenetwork", it then went dim and I was able to scroll throught the normal menu (but everything was dim). Again, the scrolling was odd and again- to solve the problem I logged out of squeezenetwork and back in again. Are you able to recreate this at your end? Get back to me if you want more info and I'll keep posting if this keeps occurring. I'm afraid I don't really know what the source of this is. Thanks Jono
I'm guessing that the process Jonathan was connected to crashed.
(In reply to comment #3) > I'm guessing that the process Jonathan was connected to crashed. > Hi again, I am running the latest stable (6.2.2) on my Squeezebox 2. I am still getting this glitch. Sometimes everything is fine, but often (and normally when the squeezebox is started by the alarm clock) I will get the date on the screen (as if the player was off) but with vizualizations of the radio station playing behind (and music of course). When this happens, the volume control no longer works and I have to use the arrow keys. When an arrow key is pressed, the screen slips into the dim pixellated mode described earlier and I have to sign off and sign back in again and manually start the radio stream. Has this bug been looked into any further yet? Thanks Jono
This should be fixed in the latest release of SN. Please reopen the bug if it happens again.
