Client is a Netgem digital tv adapter with ethernet port able to surf web and
play media files. Runs a propiety version of *unix.

Seems that the connection is 'broke' (client seems to disconnect) intermittently
when skipping songs, inbetween some songs (or when it comes to the end of a
playlist I think). I think this may be caused by a gap in the mp3 stream when
changing tracks.

Is it possible for slimserver to 'generate' a 'silent' mp3 stream to fill in
these gaps to help less able clients remain connected?

I don't think that SlimServer is closing the connection. SlimServer does attempt to generate silence in
the stream whenever its not playing. When skipping
tracks, it may be that the client in question doesn't handle broken or fractional MP3 frames and
disconnects in that case. Can you confim that this is in fact what's happening? (The best way would
be to obtain a packet dump of the network activity when this happening...)

I'd be happy to test this out but have no idea how to generate a packet dump!
Could you please advise?

I still haven't got round to doing a packet dump (final exams!), but I will do
in the next few weeks if they are still required.
