composer/band/orchestra show up in search when they are disabled in artist list
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:39:24 UTC
when using the search function from the player ui, composers, bands, and orchestras show up as matching strings even if you have told them not to show up in the artist list in server settings -> behavior.
I'm not sure that this is necessarily bad behavior. Can you explain why you'd rather not see the results in the search?
thanks for the quick reply. in my opinion, when searching by "artist" one wishes to see the "artist" (rolling stones, beach boys, frank sinatra, etc.). currently searching by "artist" considers the "author" of each individual song. i don't think that it is helpful to have thousands of individual "authors" listed as "artist". it make seaching by "artist" literally impossible. thanks,
i definitely think it's bad behavior. because if you have composer/band/orchestra disabled in the artist list, why should it show up when you SEARCH by artist as opposed to BROWSE by artist? it's just inconsistent confusing behavior...
Upon reflection, I agree.
So I don't believe you.. running trunk, If I don't have any Composer, etc checked in Settings -> Behavior, and search for a Composer (that I know to be only a composer), they don't appear in the search.
It seems that in the web ui the simple search doesn't find the composer but the advanced search does (and the search on the squeezebox does also). At least that is inconsistent.
which search were you using dan?
