Description Steven Kramer 2005-10-27 09:56:13 UTC
I have a large number of single artist albums that are appearing under Various
Artists. The underlying cause seems to be in how slimserver interprets the
"Compilation" tag if it exists. On files where there is a compilation tag set to
"No" slimserver assigns "Compilation: Yes" to the tracks in the library. I will
attach a sample file.

(By the way, I believe this was a tag created by iTunes, but am not sure since I
switched to flac and converted all my Apple Loseless files to flac.)
Comment 1 Dan Sully 2005-10-27 10:14:27 UTC
Steven - can you please upload one of the tracks that has this flag?

Thanks.
Comment 2 Steven Kramer 2005-10-27 10:30:43 UTC
Ooops. Sorry, I tried to attach a sample file, but all these files are flacs and
are therefore too big. I suppose I can convert them to mp3, but I don't know if
the relevant tags will come. Or if you want, I can try to send one to you directly.

Please upload it to ftp://electricrain.com/incoming/

Thanks.

Dan - Two tracks from an album are on their way. Sorry for the delay, I had
network problems in the middle of my last attempt to send. Thanks for the help.

Thanks. Fixed in change 4876

Will be in tonight's nightly build.

What are valid (as recognized by SS) true and false values for the freeform
COMPILATION tag? Is it anything that could be interpreted as boolean?
Yes/True/1 and No/False/0, or is it something more restrictive?

Thanks Dan! I really appreciate and am impressed by the quick response.

Comment 8 Dan Sully 2005-10-27 14:57:30 UTC
Right now it's Yes/1 and No/0 - case insensitive.
Comment 9 Steven Kramer 2005-10-28 09:23:51 UTC
Dan - Finally downloaded the 10/28 nightly and had my lbrary rescanned.
Everything looks fine (except of course so albums that I had mis-tagged - if
only you could find a solution for that!). Thanks again!
