Description Paul Holthuizen 2005-10-25 05:00:08 UTC
Ever since installing 6.2 today I find that a number of my albums get split in
two or three parts. The album name stays the same. So take for example an album
called '20 Golden Memories'. When I browse albums I see three instances of '20
golden memories', the first containing tracks 1 to 5, the second containing
tracks 17 to 20, and the third containing tracks 6 to 16. This happens in the
Web interface as well as on the SB itself. It happens with a lot of albums and
as far as I can see only with compilation disks (The best of... 20 golden
memories... etc)

Rescanning with clearing the library does not help. I am using an SB1 and an SB2
with a WinXP server (no iTunes) and this is the first time I have seen this problem.
Comment 1 Dan Sully 2005-10-25 08:50:38 UTC
Paul - can you try turning on the 'Common Album Titles' checkbox in Settings -> Behavior, and doing a
wipe+rescan ?

Thanks.

I've checked in a fix as subversion change 4893 - which will be in the 10-28-2005 nightlies.

Please give that a try.

Thanks.

I've just tested this with 2005-10-28, and it's getting worse. 504 albums in
iTunes. Before I got 725 when scanning music folder, and 742 when scanning
iTunes. After the latest fix I got 753 from iTunes, so this is not fixed.
I'll try later scanning music dir.

Peter
Comment 5 Peter 2005-10-28 19:35:03 UTC
With music dir the result is 750, and there is 505 (1 ogg album not in
iTunes), so I think this should be reopened.

Could you run with --d_scan and --d_import and attach the log file to this bug?

Sure, here it is
Comment 10 Dan Sully 2005-11-03 14:12:45 UTC
Ok - it looks like the issue is inconsistent tagging in that album.

Please make sure that the following are all set properly for the tracks in the album:

thumbnail
year
compilation tag
disc and disccount
Comment 11 L. Rieder 2005-11-15 04:58:25 UTC
If I may contribute what I've observed:

At first I thought the problem was in fact merely inconsistent tagging (e.g. 'year'), which is fair enough. However, I then found that the album also "breaks" if different codecs are used (e.g. some songs are mp3-vbr, some mp3-cbr), which is admittedly dodgy in the first place, but should not break the compilation album feature.
Comment 12 Steven Kramer 2006-01-08 09:49:14 UTC
I too am having this problem with some albums in both 6.2 and 6.5b1. I checked for tagging errors, but couldn't find any. These albums display correctly in Media Center and other players, but not SlimServer. Below are tag listings from Foobar for two tracks from a single album that is split up in SlimServer (there is no art associated with this album):

Comment 13 Todd Voirol 2006-01-19 15:49:43 UTC
I installed 6.5b1 today and am now seeing similar behavior on many of my albums. I did need observe this behavior using 6.2.
Comment 14 Todd Voirol 2006-01-19 19:26:45 UTC
I have been able to solve this issue by deleting all the playlists in my playlist directory and do a full rescan. When I do a full rescan with my playlists, some of the songs in the playlists show up as split albums. All the tags in these files all have the same album information.
Comment 15 Hanno Stock 2006-03-26 08:41:46 UTC
I have the same problem with 6.2.1. It seems, that it occurs only after a "scan for new or changed" music, not a complete rescan.
Comment 16 Dan Sully 2006-04-29 13:17:42 UTC
Is this still an issue with the 6.2.2 release, or the latest 6.5 nightly?

Thanks
Comment 17 Dan Sully 2006-06-09 17:02:20 UTC
Is this still an issue with the 6.2.2 release, 6.3.x nightlies or the latest 6.5 nightly?

Thanks
Comment 18 Dan Sully 2006-06-14 19:38:19 UTC
Marking this as fixed for 6.5 - if you have a specific, reproducable case, please open a new bug.

If you are having general issues - try tagging the album as a compilation.

Thanks.
