Description Pat Farrell 2005-10-15 22:21:31 UTC
Currently running SlimServer Version: 6.2b1 - 4588 - Linux - EN - iso-8859-1

This maybe two separate problems. If so, lets split it.

When I start up the SS, it syncs my two SBs. I usually do not want this. So I
unsync them. Doing this causes the left-side of the default skin to redraw,
losing where I am in the current
Browse music folder -> jazz -> Wes Montgomery -> xxx
flow. So I have to start over from the top.

Sometime later, the SS self resets back to synchronized. I don't know exactly
what causes it, but it happens. Triggering a need to un-sync them, and then
causing the above problem.

I've set and unset the sync, and checked the /etc/slimserver.conf
(without stopping and restarting the SS). No changed are recorded
in the slimserver.conf file. This seems to be a suitable preference
that should be stored.

Not clear what the optimal design would be. Could be a global:
"sync all known players" true or false. or perhaps a player specific flag
something like:
"sync this player with: [list of other players]"

Max,

Any chance of posting your prefs file [it should store sync state]. Look for
the preferences: syncgroupid, syncPower, *-Sync.

What's the output of enabling the debugs: --d_sync and --d_sync_v.
Comment 2 Pat Farrell 2005-10-16 10:12:43 UTC
I don't see any syncgroupid, *-Sync.
I've got
   syncBufferThreshold: 128
    syncPower: 0
    syncVolume: 0

Let me get the latest nightly installed and see if they show up.
Comment 3 Pat Farrell 2005-10-16 10:39:44 UTC
Opps, there was a line with
252417578-Sync:
Comment 4 Adrian Smith 2005-10-16 10:43:59 UTC
Pat - any chance you could send me the prefs file (mail direct if you don't
want to post here).

Comment 5 Adrian Smith 2005-10-16 12:17:16 UTC
Thanks for the file Pat. Other than a stale *-Sync entry this doesn't seem to
show anything wrong. [won't cause any problems]

Can you explain the symptoms further and show what happens when you start the
server with --d_sync?

I've installed a patched version (from Triode) of Sync.pm. It has additional
debugging stuff. Of course, since I installed it (and the latest nightly) the
problem is not reproducing itself anymore. I'll run it a while to see if the bug
returns.

triode, can I assign this to you to follow up on? bounce it back to me if you get stuck.

Pat,

Any update on this? Assuming you are not seeing it with the current 6.2,
could I suggest closing it. We can always reopen if you see the problem again.
