Bugzilla – Bug 2285
no artist or multiplied artist in database for tracks with composer
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:36:01 UTC
Scanning my library from iTunes it appears that *some* tracks with a composer & artist set end up with composer but no artist in the database. An example - in iTunes this track has artist 'The Chemical Brothers' and composer 'chemical brothers'. In SS the artist has overwritten the composer and the artist is unset. Title: Setting Sun Composer: The Chemical Brothers Album: Dig Your Own Hole Genre: Big Beat Disc: 1 Track: 5 File Format: Apple AAC, Lossless or Movie File Duration: 5:28 Year: 1997 File Length: 4,629,096 Bytes Bitrate: 128kbps CBR I also have a problem with artist/composer tags multiplying themselves if composer is set e.g Title: Pilots Artist: Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp Composer: Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp, Goldfrapp Album: Felt Mountain Genre: Electronic Disc: 1 Track: 4 File Format: MP3 Duration: 4:29 Year: 2000 File Length: 5,395,438 Bytes Bitrate: 160kbps CBR I think this is happening after rescans.
Should be fixed as of subversion change 4616
with svn 4621 the artists name being added multiple times seems to be resolved, but on a clear/rescan i'm still seeing no artist name (only band) with tracks that have the matching artist name in the composer field. subsequent "look for new and changed music" scans do add the artist name to these tracks and only one time, which is good. the problem is, if some tracks in the album had no artist on the first scan (and others do), they're being marked as compilations and rescans don't seem to change that even though the artist name is being added. when i disable itunes, this problem goes away.
