kevin: for clarification did you try to reproduce this and failed?
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2005-10-30 10:39:06 UTC
Kevin?
Comment 3 Kevin Pearsall 2005-10-31 15:52:11 UTC
failed to reproduce on 10.3.9...

this could be 10.4 related, two people reported it and both were using 10.4...
i have not upgraded to 10.4 yet on the mini because i'm afraid of e-mail
catastrophe and because it will probably take a whole day to complete...

if i'm not too busy this weekend i can possibly come in and do it then.
Comment 4 Blackketter Dean 2005-11-03 17:04:42 UTC
This appears to be a bug in 10.4, will file a bug with apple. mov123 is
crashing. Will attach log.

Workaround is this:
Set slimserver to start at system startup.
Reboot the system.

User should be able to log in and out at will.

Dean - any idea if this is fixed with the latest QuickTime?

Don't know. Chris should probably verify that it's still an issue.

Comment 7 Dan Sully 2006-07-23 17:12:41 UTC
Chris - I'm assinging to you in order to reproduce.
Comment 8 Chris Owens 2006-07-25 18:43:55 UTC
I could not reproduce this on 10.4. I was running 6.5b1 - 8630 - Mac OS X 10.4.7 (8J135) - EN utf8

I was running iTunes 6.0.4
Comment 9 Chris Owens 2006-07-25 18:44:42 UTC
Dean, shall I mark this 'WORKSFORME' or do you have further plans for it?

Unless you get a reproduceable case, I'd mark it as such.

I was the one who originally wrote about this bug. I just upgraded to
the latest version of QT, reinstalled the latest version of SS, and
performed a disk check to make sure that all my permissions were OK.
The problem still existed. mov123 wouldn't work when I was logged out
and the file was either an unprotected aac or an apple lossless. I
finally got too frustrated and tired to deal with it so I converted
all the files to vbr mp3. It was becoming a huge time sink.

If any other users encounter this problem, please put in some details about your setup so I can reproduce.
