Description Matt Mendelow 2004-03-21 12:16:20 UTC
I installed the latest Windows XP Service Pack 2 release candidate which is now
available to the general public. After rebooting, the Slim service pegged the
CPU at 99% consistently and it had trouble communicating with the Squeezebox. I
stopped the service, restarted it. Same thing. Rebooted. Same thing. Since I use
the Squeezebox so often and can't be without it, I uninstalled service pack 2
and and the Slim service behaved normally again. I realize SP2 isn't in final
form yet but it's due for release in the second quarter. Maybe the issue will
go away in its final form?

Hi Matt... I installed the SP2 candidate and haven't seen these problems. I did enable the new firewall
and then open it up for slimserver, but the CPU usage is still quite low. Can you tell me more about the
system? Also, are you using the latest 5.1.1 release?
