Description Richie 2005-10-04 10:09:51 UTC
I'm still experiencing problems with multi-disc albums. So tonight I
installed the latest 6.1.2 nightly and noted the results below (it
works) and then installed the latest 6.2 nightly and noted the results
(I don't think it works correctly). All on Win XP Pro SP2.

If no one has any suggestions I'll raise a bug.

For all of the following examples, Group Discs uses the 'Treat
multi-disc sets as multiple albums' option

With SS6.1.2 (2005-10-03) using Browse Artists under Hed Kandi I get
the following:

All Songs
Winter Chill 06.02 (Disc 1)
Winter Chill 06.02 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 06.03 (Disc 1)
Winter Chill 06.03 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 06.04 (Disc 1)
Winter Chill 06.04 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 3 (Disc 1)
Winter Chill 3 (Disc 2)

and under Bob Marley & The Wailers I get:

All Songs
Catch A Fire
Exodus [Deluxe Edition] (Disc 1)
Exodus [Deluxe Edition] (Disc 2)
Kaya
Legend [Deluxe Edition]
Rastaman Vibration
Songs Of Freedom (Disc 1)
Songs Of Freedom (Disc 2)
Songs Of Freedom (Disc 3)
Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4)

which is how I think it should be displayed.

With SS6.2 (2005-10-03) using Browse Artists under Hed Kandi I get the
following:

All Songs
Winter Chill 06.02 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 06.03 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 06.04 (Disc 2)
Winter Chill 3 (Disc 2)

and under Bob Marley & The Wailers I get:

All Songs
Catch A Fire
Exodus (Deluxe Edition) (Disc 2)
Kaya
Rastaman Vibration
Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4)

which then makes it a pain to try to select just one disc from a
multi-disc album.

In the last case the tracks listed under Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4)
show up in the following manner:

4-1. Judge Not from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-2. One Cup Of Coffee from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-3. Simmer Down from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
...
...
4-24. Mr. Brown from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-1. Screw Face from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-2. Lick Samba from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-3. Trenchtown Rock (Previously Unreleased Alternate Mix) from Songs
Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
...
...
4-18. I Shot The Sheriff (Live) from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-1. No Woman No Cry (Live At The Roxy) from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4)
by Bob Marley
4-2. Who The Cap Fit from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-3. Jah Live from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
...
...
4-18. Time Will Tell from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-1. Africa Unite from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-2. Survival from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
4-3. One Drop from Songs Of Freedom (Disc 4) by Bob Marley
...
...
4-18. Redemption Song (Live In Pittsburgh) from Songs Of Freedom (Disc
4) by Bob Marley

although the disc numbers are wrong (except for disc 4) all the tracks
are in the correct order, disc 1 first, disc 2 etc.

Do the album titles have the literal string "(Disk 4)" in them? That may be confusing slimserver, as it's
expecting to get the disc number from the disc number tag.
Comment 2 Richie 2005-10-04 23:01:40 UTC
There is nothing in the album title tag that relates to the discnumber. All this
information is in the DISCNUMBER tag of the flac files.
Comment 3 Blackketter Dean 2005-10-05 14:52:09 UTC
Well, there goes that theory. Dan?
Comment 4 Robert Moser II 2005-10-06 14:49:24 UTC
Revision 4471 should fix this. The albumObj for the first album was being
reused for the second (and subsequent) albums since it was using discc instead
of disc to determine when a new album started.

Using 6.2 nightly 2005-10-03 all seems OK. Thanks
