Bugzilla – Bug 2212
SlimServer should save podcasts for playing again later
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:23:36 UTC
There should be an option for slimserver to save podcasts as they are listened to, so they can be listened to again without the need to redownload them and rely on their still being present on the remote sight. With this option set, listening to a podcast should automatically place the mp3/whatever into a directory that is then browseable from the player ui. I'm filing this RFE as a result of questions asked at http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=54846. I don't (currently) use podcasts myself, but the behaviour sounds sensible to me.
I would suggest a podcast browser like the shoutcast browser. There you should browse download and play your podcasts. If the user wands to download the podcast, in the prefs should be a folder option, to name the folder where podcasts are saved, preset "Podcasts". One subfolder for each podcast (Podcasts/$title/$file). step 1. browser with download possibility suggestions for later releases - when downloading a file, save a descprition if available, same name like mp3 file, extension .txt. make it visible in browser next to file / alternative id3 tag? - torrent support for torrent only podcasts (e.g.: http://www.wefunkradio.com/rssfeeds.plx) - auto download of new released files (time controlled?)
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
