Description Dieter 2005-09-02 06:31:02 UTC
If for a VA album the "Album" tag of an OGG-file contains accented characters
the album is not automatically detected as VA album by Slimserver. Instead of be
listed once under "Various Artists" when browsing for artists all artists are
listed separately. In browse albums the album name is listed not only once but
so often as different artist are on the album. This does not happen with
mp3-files. When I simply change the accented character (e.g. "") to a not
accented character (e.g. "a") and make a complete rescan everything is fine. The
album is then automatically detected as VA album and only listed once in browse
albums.

Further problems with accented characters in the "Artist" tag of OGG-files are
described in items 3. and 4. of bug 2056.
Comment 1 Dieter 2005-09-06 10:26:33 UTC
As a workaround I tagged all my VA albums manually with ALBUMARTIST=Various
(having the VA album identifier in addition set to Various). Now all albums are
correctly shown as VA albums even those having ogg files with accented
characters in the ALBUM tag.

Dan, due to this bug and bug 2056 it seems that reading tags from ogg vorbis
files is in general not correct as far as accented characters are concerned.

Large Various Artists / Multiple Artists in Tags update checked in as subversion change 4258.

dip posted: Bug 2057 is not solved. As described in Bug 2057 VA albums
containing OGG VORBIS files having accented characters in the ALBUM tag
are not detected as VA albums. All artists are listed in Browse Artists
and in browse albums the album name is listed not only once but so
often as different artist are on the album. When I tag the album
manually with ALBUMARTIST=Various then everything is ok.

Please upload a file that has this problem to the bug.

Thanks.

Ogg vorbis file with accented character "ä" in the album tag

First song file for duplicate this bug.

Second test file

Second song for reproducing this bug. Both files are from the same album
"Mix-Album mit ä" and produce (at least on my system) the described bug, which
means that both albums are listed in Browse Artists although it is a VA album
and that in browse albums the album name is listed twice.

I just recognized that all test songs are downloaded as attachment.cgi when
clicking on the above links. But it seems that one has simply to replace the
"cgi" by "ogg" to obtain correct ogg files with the correct tags.

Really fixed in subversion change 4296 - the comparison was being mucked up because the incoming
data wasn't being properly marked as UTF8
