Bugzilla – Bug 2052
crash in prefs: Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/Prefs.pm line 424
Last modified: 2008-09-15 14:37:04 UTC
I've downloaded and installed your Slimserver Linux RPM. I ran the shell script to make it work under my SuSE 9.3 package. But after running that script I get an error message: Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Utils/ Prefs.pm line 424. That line reads like so: if (ref($DEFAULT{$key} eq 'ARRAY')) {You use the $DEFAULT and $key variables above this line, so what's the problem? Some additional info: I get that error message after running "./ slimserver_startup_script start" which I copied from your Wiki here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SUSE91StartupScripts This was a piece of cake to run under windows. I don't understand why the RPM doesn't install a simple executable with nice launch icons the same way.
was this 6.1.1 official release, or one of the 6.1.2 or 6.2 nightly builds?
Bjoern: Can you tell us which version you were using when you had this error? Also, what version of SuSE are you using?
I am running SuSE 9.3 with all of the latest patches. I installed slimserver from the file slimserver-6.1.1-1.noarch.rpm.
Please try the latest 6.2 release and see if you can reproduce this problem. Thanks.
Bjoern: has this addressed your issue?
Hmm. That worked with a "Severe Warning! Couldn't write out Prefs file: [/etc/ sl imserver.conf]: Permission denied" error. I suppose I should have executed this command as SU. I'll have to see whether my squeezebox can connect after I struggle with the WPA password entry again.
Sounds like a permissions issue now on your machine. Marking fixed. Please reopen if you still think it's an issue in SlimServer.
There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
