Comment 1 Kevin Pearsall 2004-08-02 15:52:37 UTC
I seem to get quite a bit more requests for normalizing than crossfading. I should probably separate
these two entries here...
Comment 2 Ralph Edington 2004-12-06 16:59:17 UTC
I agree that normalizing and crossfading should be two distinct entries.
Crossfading should be easy within the server software, I would think?

However I have many questions about normalizing. I would like my entire MP3 to
be peak-normalized to 98%. Does anyone know of a third-party utility that could
normalize my collection? I'm not happy with the shareware utilities I've found...

Thanks,

Ralph E

crossfading is actually a rather difficult thing. normalising could be done via
replaygain (a popular suggestion) then the serber can support the tag.
crossfading, by contrast, requires starting a second stream internal to the
server and overlapping the currently playing stream. The server currently only
supports a single stream for a single player

as for splitting the request, the normalization portion is probably covered by
bug 80, so this can probably just concentrate on crossfade.
Comment 5 Kevin Pearsall 2005-03-25 13:11:33 UTC
changed title of bug. crossfade has also been added for squeezebox2, fyi.

Alas, not possible with SB hardware. However, SB2 does support crossfading.
