Description Julian Bashford 2005-08-23 11:49:29 UTC
Version 6.2b1 - 3998 - Windows XP - EN - cp1252

I have folders structured Z:\artist\album and correct tags. If I have, for
example, several artists with albums called "HITS", it will read it as one
album under various artists with many track 1s, many track 2s etc... and
different artists for each one - NOT as it should be - isolated albums under
each artist.

server settings->behaviour, Common Album titles. you should be able to enter
"HITS" there and rescan. The the server automatically groups tracks with those
album titles by common directories.

Sure - but that's a bit silly isn't it ? This would be about 30 or 40 album
titles at least for me. Surely, doing it logically would be better - ie. just
check if the artist is the same in the same directory ? The whole idea with
something like SlimServer should be that it has complete logic and that you
don't spend hours re-programming the database to bypass quirks.

:)

Still lovin' the Various Artists feature though ! I have gone down from over
2000 artists to 425 !!! such is the sorting power of Various Artists !!! :)

yeah...isn't it. well tell that the users who bitched about that exact scheme
when it first came out. not everyone seems to agree that an album should have
to be in the same directory :(

guess this one will just be yet another of those never possible to fix type bugs.
