AS a sideline of working with Dan in getting my Various Artists albums to pick 
up correctly in the new version 6.2, I think I picked up that Include / Exclude 
Bands has stopped working, although it is working for Composers. My tags have 
the band info stored in TPE2. Is this the correct field ?

TPE2 is used as the 'ALBUM ARTIST'

Do you want it to actually be BAND? We'll need to add a toggle for that. You can't have both.

I think it should be. Band is different to Artist, and it is misleading to say 
Include Band and not to actually include Band ? or am I confused. I have lots 
of my albums with an artist and a band as different things, so it would be 
useful. Thanks.

I've checked in this toggle as subversion change 4074.

It defaults to "on", so you'll want to turn it off and wipe+rescan.
