Description cristin 2005-07-30 13:03:45 UTC
system info:
pentium 3, 400 or so mhz. 192MB ram
    running suse 9.1
    slimserver 6.1.1

music library: 60,600 songs on internal RAID

When I browse playlists or search the database from the web interface or from one of my
squeezeboxes, everything hangs, and my squeezeboxes lose their connection to the server.

The server itself doesn't seem to be overtaxed. During normal usage, watching a top, slimserver.pl
normally takes up 6% CPU and 10.5% RAM. CPU usage peaks at about 80% when I first look at the web
interface (for only one second) and then drops back down to 6%. Every web page refresh brings a
momentary peak of 25% before it drops back again to 6%.

When I perform a search request, cpu usage stays at 6% but the web page and squeezeboxes
immediately hang (I have the RSS news ticker running on one, and it stops.) CPU usage then slowly
climbs to about 25% over the next 30-120 seconds or so and then the web page refreshes. Then my
squeezeboxes come back online. RAM usage never changes from its 10.5%

-------

I upgraded from 5.4.4, and that version had no problems searching. It did take up more RAM with the
database, but search functions didn't kill my streams or the web interface, (same library, same machine)
so I know that my machine could handle the database in the old format.

Could you run with the --d_sql debug option, and send the output of that from a search?

Thanks

This is a duplicate of bug #399 - which has been fixed in the 6.2 nightlies.

Please give those a try.

Thanks.
