Description yann oehl 2005-07-25 09:26:03 UTC
Enhancment: A "do not play" playlist.... Any songs on this list are
automatically excluded from playing... they display, but are "marked" as "do
not play". That way I can feel comfortable making lists by genre, etc. without
fear that that "one nasty song I cant stand on an otherwise brillinat album"
never plays. Make sense? I don't think the current zap list works like this,
does it? Maybe the two could somehow be integrated?
Comment 1 Blackketter Dean 2005-07-25 12:43:40 UTC
good suggestion.
Comment 2 KDF 2005-07-25 13:46:07 UTC
unfortunately, one more task to prolong playlist loading before playback.
either that or confusion ensues when the track is listed in the current playlist
and magically(?) skipped.
Comment 3 yann oehl 2005-07-25 14:01:55 UTC
Make it optional (Use "Do not Play List"? Explanation of feature.... (Note:
Selecting this may slow down playlist loading)

I've renamed this enhancment request with something more open ended (as KDF
mentioned, using playlists to do this may be less than ideal). Perhaps this
could be tied to the upcoming rating feature? A user could be given the choice
of not playing tracks rated as "one"?
Comment 5 KDF 2005-08-30 09:05:49 UTC
its possible. somehow, somewhere a rating system is planned. 'do not play
anything below 1' should be easy enough.
Comment 6 yann oehl 2006-04-12 08:31:31 UTC
Now that the ratings field is being used (albeit only nominally...) would it be possible to include something like the "do not play anyhing rated 1 (20/100)" logic mentioned below?

I like this suggestion. FWIW, my vote is either:

A "do not play" list, to which tracks can be added in the same way as "Favourites" are handled now.

or:

An easy way way to rate tracks (again, probably like the Favourites, but maybe with numeric keypresses?). However, my slimserver does not have write permissions to the music library so these ratings would have to be stored in the SS DB. In which case, I'd then moan for a batch utility to update the tracks from time to time. Geeze - fussy users or what! ;)

Don't think you need both of these methods and would prefer a rating, but either way the Random Mix should be updated to not play those marked, or those rated below a certain threshold. However, I would hope Random Mix is on it's way out, to be replaced by "auto playlists"?

Dean doesn't work here any more :)

Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
