Description Tim Passingham 2015-04-27 10:45:54 UTC
Sadly, many of the Additional Browse Mode menus in 7.9 are, in most cases, unusable for me because the only Sort tag LMS seems to use is ArtistSort. Conductor, Composer, AllArtist (and one I set myself based on Band) therefore suffer badly from a mix of sorted and unsorted forms.

Many Conductors and Composers are also Artists, so get a sort based on my ArtistSort tags.

However, those that aren't also Artists get the default sort form (ie the capitalised name).

I'm aware, and fully accept, that requests have been made for ConductorSort, ComposerSort and BandSort before, and that they haven't been deemed important enough to implement.

Including additional (and, of course, optional) menu options based on these tags, in an admittedly Beta LMS, brings the issue into rather clearer focus. LMS knows about 6 different types of role, but only uses sort forms for one of them. As far as I can tell it doesn't use AlbumArtistSort either, but I assume that since all my ALbumArtists are also Artists, it doesn't matter.

I've closed this as a duplicate having found 18096 and seen the proposed patch, which seems to work. \i'll report there.
