LMS not running in 32-bit mode? System Preference must quit and reopen pop up window appears
Last modified: 2014-08-06 10:50:20 UTC
Hi, help needed. My current LMS is official 7.7.1 33747 running in OS X 10.7.3, it runs perfectly since I installed it last year end, but after click on update plugin on LMS bottom left corner, the following window appears in System Preferences. "To use the “Logitech Media Server” preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen." Two buttons, cancel or quit, when i click quit, double click on LMS at System Preference, give me the same dialog as above. Then I click cancel, mouser over the LMS, remove LMS system preference. After that, I go and wipe off user/xxx/library/application support/squeezebox (including plugin subfolders), reboot Mac, reinstall LMS 7.7.1 official version again. But the same dialog appears, what's wrong, I have updated plugin several times, but never come across this problem. I have checked the LMS preference info, it's checked at 32-bit. Please help and your advise is very much appreciated.
Product/Component should be changed to SB Server/Mac Preference Pane. Would like to see either separate 32/64-bit downloads (call the 32-bit version "for OS 10.6 and earlier" and 64-bit "for OS 10.7 and later"), or a smart installer that installs the 64-bit version if the OS is capable.
I agree with Michael. It is time that a 64-bit version of the preference pane is created.
Thanks Daniel, please cast your vote for support.

I've done some work on a 64-bit prefpane for 7.8. See here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97007-New-installer-and-64-bit-PrefPane-for-OSX Any feedback is welcome.
Fixed in latest 7.7.x
