This an really old issues that changed in 7.x somewhere an old tread was resurected lately and the issue was forgotten .

Here is the prerequisite no repast mode selected . Cue up some files.

Old behaviour when playlist was ended and you later pressed play again you started from the top playing track 1 again .

New behaviour you are atnthe last track pressing play starts the last track all over.

Seems like the server treats stop and end of playlist all the same ( I would expect this if I stopped at the last track )

This is still broken in 7.8.
