I advocate for a very obvious & easy way to export (backup) your Favorites list (and also Logitech Media Server settings).

IMO Export/Import functions should be more obvious than below the "edit pencil" level?

Additionally you should be able to export the Favorites and the media server Settings via the one button. Again IMO

I am asking for this added functionality, for the following reasons:

You should assume your computer will fail (not "if") and consequently backup as often as you feel required i.e. I backup certain files daily, others weekly, some monthly and others not at all, relevant to their importance (to me) and frequency of use etc.

You can Import to your Favorites list within LMS but you can not Export (backup) your Favorites list. (Or your Server/system settings) (LMS, click on the little "pencil" icon to right of Favorites. This puts you in edit mode. Toward bottom is "import".)

There is a backup method for the technically savy. And I emphasise "technically savy". Just copy and save the "favorites.opml". Favorites is then covered, however you still have to deal with the server settings though...

For me no opml files were ever found using the XP search function. But I am a little tech savy and found the relevant file by drilling down in the right folders. I recently created a short cut to the file and stored it with my backup routines; I now copy the file to several external hard drives (one off site).

However for the noobs and the technophobic (and those without the time to search) there should be an export button.

Hate TV and advertising consequently the music is always on (playing random tracks) in this house; 40000 plus tracks to go through here and three children (& two adults) adding to Favorites = three upset kids with every loss of favorites. (Too frequent sadly) The favorites list I should have been backing up daily given the number of users in this house and that the squeezebox is always playing randomly, thus exposing young users to new tunes! )

Please! And thanks for the time in consideration. ;)

By the way I am new to Bugzilla and apologise if I have posted in the wrong section :)

Everyone that voted here should vote on 17815 to .

To admin:
when you fix a bug by making it a duplicate, you should also transfer the duplicates votes to the main bug, otherwise you never get good stats on how the userbase weigths the bug.

In the case 17827,17815 I'm sure these are in turn duplicates of older request with the same ideas

The topic was "searched" before posting, trying to avoid duplication. I don't believe that 17815 is the same request, but I will grant that 17815 & 17827 are similar!
