Description Raimund Hirschberg 2011-11-01 19:58:21 UTC
I know that this request has been made repeatedly by other users over several years. However, nothing has happened. Thus, I am asking for thie again: Please, add audiobook functionality to the squeezebox media server. Consider allowing playing of Audible audiobooks (aa format). If this is associated with too many legal/licensing hurdles, then consider at least an add-in or other functioality that allows to bookmark mp3 files. This means that at a later time SBMS would find the place in the file at which it has previously stopped, even several days later.
Although Audible is the largest audiobook seller, other publishers sell audiobooks on CD/DVD that are not protected and can simply be uploaded and are accessible and playable on SB. The only problem is that after leaving the audiobook or switching off the player, the audiobook cannot be continued. It could only be played from the beginning.

Audiobook listeners may not be the bulk of your customers. Nevertheless, there are many out there who would very much appreciate some sort of audiobook functionality.
