Bugzilla – Bug 17506
Provide a network interface to "Front Button" functionality
Last modified: 2011-08-26 03:48:57 UTC
Following a recent restart of SqueezeboxServer, my SB Receivers needed to be either power cycled or have the front button pushed to force them to reconnect. As the receivers are all (necessarily) located in high inaccessible locations, this prove rather awkward. As all the receivers were still up and connected to the network, it would have been substantially preferable to be able to force the reconnect remotely. A more general solution would seem to be to expose all the functionality of the front button (if there is anything beyond a single press) via the network. I'd envisage this being *very* lightweight, probably done via a single UDP packet to a suitable port, and could therefore hopefully be integrated reasonably easily. I'm sure anyone needing this sort of functionality could handle the client side themselves.
