Description Jordan Hirsch 2011-07-21 07:16:49 UTC
Version: 7.6.0 - r32763 @ Wed Jul 20 02:05:03 PDT 2011
Operating system: Windows XP - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 586
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.32_02 (sqlite 3.7.5)
MusicIP Mixer: Version 1.9

Mixable status appears correctly, but when I click on the "M" icon in the web interface, I am simply taken to the track (or album, or artist) detail page in the left-hand column. It never generates a mix, it just shows me the detail page for whatever item I clicked the "M" next to.

However, if I click through to a song's detail page, and click on the "Create MusicIP Mix" link near the bottom of the left column, (e.g. http://localhost:9000/plugins/MusicMagic/musicmagic_mix.html?song=47874&player=00%3A04%3A20%3A06%3A4b%3A58) the mix is generated properly.

The "M" links seem to be in this format: http://localhost:9000/clixmlbrowser/clicmd=trackinfo+items&track_id=47874&linktitle=Information%20(4.%20Like%20Dylan%20In%20The%20Movies%20(Belle%20%26%20Sebastian))/&player=00%3A04%3A20%3A06%3A4b%3A58 which appears to be the "info" link as opposed to the "musicip mix" link.

Since I can generate the mixes properly with the full link, I'm assuming this is a web interface problem as opposed to a MusicIP integration problem.

I vaguely remember that this is a deliberate design decision we took in the onebrowser effort to make it possible to handle mixers all the same on all UIs. Alan might confirm this.

Thanks, Michael. If that's the case, it seems kind of confusing from a UX perspective - what is the difference between clicking on the "M" as opposed to just clicking on the name of the song if they both take you to the same page?

Thanks for the quick response.

That's true on the track level, but not for albums or artists. We need an addition "M(ore)" button there, as clicking the entry would drill down one more level.

Can the M button be suppressed when there are no mixers, or when it's not relevant? I have no mixers installed, yet I have to look at that stupid button every time I mouseover an album cover in the web ui. With no mixers installed, clicking it doesn't even take you to the album track listing page - it goes to some kind of 'Information' page that has the same album information, but no tracks!

This is by design. Nothing to fix here.

Broken by design. Got it.

Since the "M" used to be tied to MusicIP mixable status (i.e. it would only appear for artists/tracks/albums which were marked as mixable via MusicIP), will you be adding another icon to replace that functionality? With the re-purposing of the "M" icon there is no longer any visual indicator of MusicIP mixable status.
