Bugzilla – Bug 17307
Synchronize Power is not working power on/off seperatly has no effect.
Last modified: 2011-08-17 12:31:48 UTC
I am using three Logitech boxes : radio, touch and boom in sync. Installed 7.6 nightly yesterday.(fresh install after computer crash debian with 7.5.4) Now the Synchronize Power is nog working the way it's supposed to work. changing the setting: power on/off seperatly has no effect. Turning on one of the boxes results every time in turning on all the boxes. I want to be able to turn them on seperatly, as before. It seems the power on with group setting does not changes. Using: 7.6 32611 please advice.
I cannot reproduce this. With both players in a sync-group set to "Power on/off separately" then they do just that. With both players set to "Power on/off with group" then they do that too. You need to set this setting consistently for all players in a group.
Fresh install three computers. Consistent for all boxes. Not working!
BTW: why consistent for all playerS? Wy not two of them connected and the third one ( or more) when and if you desire? IE: room and kitchen connected.. bathroom only manual on/off
Hi Alan. There's definitely an issue that started about a month ago in 7.6. I see this at least once per day. It seems to only affect sync'd radios and touches and sometimes changes the display without actually turning on. A slightly more detailed discussion is at http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88616.
Ed, You are right - the setting does not need to be consistent, although getting one's head around the semantics when they are not can be a bit difficult.
I still cannot recreate the original reported problem. Specifically, if all players in the sync-group have power-sync disabled, then, for me, they always turn on and off independently. I have also used a setup of a Boom, a Radio and a Touch. SbS 7.6 r32611; Radio 7.6.0-r9441; Touch 7.6.0-r9443.
I have found a related problem (but not the original one). The code associated with power synchronization does not correctly set the mode of the power button ( on or off) for the "other" players. This is not a new problem and is also in 7.5.

Set the Jive power menu item for the correct player when synchronization power state.
(In reply to comment #4) Mark, I do not think that issue is directly relevant to this problem (although, I suppose, it could be connected).
Still cannot recreate having updated to Radio 7.6.0-r9449 & Touch 7.6.0-r9454. Perhaps you should check if the power-sync preference is being correct written to the server prefs file.

OK, it may be a different issue. I'll have time to do better testing this weekend and open a new bug. What I;m seeing is definitely the same as described in that forum thread.
I've been seeing this for a few weeks now too. I'm not sure if it started with Squeezebox Server 7.6.0 or with the latest Radio firmware, since I updated both around the same time. I have a sync group with a Boom, two radios, a receiver and a squeezeslave. The slave and squeezecenter are both running on OS X 10.6.8. What I see, consistently, is that both Radios turn on when any device in the sync group is powered on. This includes Alarms. When my Boom turns on in the morning, both radios come on with it. I also notice that if I power off one of the Radios, they both turn back on immediately. Powering them off a second time, individually, keeps them off. Removing the radios from the sync group makes the symptom go away. The radios do *not* sync power-off events. Other players in the sync group do not seem to be affected. I've had this same setup working for a few years now, and double checked that the settings are still as expected. I've checked my copy of Commands.pm, and I already have ayoung's change from revision 32713.
